Privacy Policy — Fluency Kids
Last updated: April 20, 2026
Fluency LLC ("Fluency," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Fluency Kids mobile application available on iOS and Android (the "App"). Fluency Kids is a standalone language-learning app designed for children approximately ages 4–12. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how we use it, and how we protect your child's privacy. We have designed Fluency Kids with children's privacy as a priority and in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
1. Our Commitment to Children's Privacy
Fluency Kids is built from the ground up to protect children's privacy. Here is a summary of our approach:
- No accounts. The App does not require or support account creation. We do not collect names, email addresses, usernames, or any other personal identifiers from children. A child may set a display name within the App, but this is stored locally on the device only and is never transmitted to our servers.
- No personal data collection. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information from children to our servers.
- All data stays on the device. Learning progress, favorites, and preferences are stored locally on the device only. This data is never uploaded to our servers.
- No analytics. We do not use behavioral analytics, advertising trackers, or any tools that track how individual children use the App.
- No ads. The App contains no advertisements and no advertising SDKs.
- No social features. There are no chat, messaging, leaderboards, public profiles, or any features that allow children to interact with other users.
2. Information We Collect
Personal information from children. None. Fluency Kids does not collect any personal information from children. There are no accounts, no logins, no forms that request personal details, and no mechanisms for children to submit personal information through the App. Any data a child enters (such as a display name or preferences) is stored locally on the device and never leaves it.
Locally stored data. The App stores learning progress, favorites, and preferences in a local database on the device. This data never leaves the device and is not accessible to us.
Content downloads. The App downloads learning content — such as books, audio files, and translations — from our content delivery servers. These are standard content delivery requests similar to loading a webpage. Our content servers may log standard technical information such as IP addresses in server access logs. These logs are used solely for security monitoring and infrastructure maintenance, are not associated with any child or user profile, and are not used for tracking or marketing purposes.
Crash & stability reports. The App uses Sentry, a crash-reporting service, to help us detect and fix technical problems. Crash reports are configured to scrub all personally identifiable information (PII) before transmission. Reports may include technical details such as device model, OS version, and the state of the App at the time of the crash. These reports do not contain names, email addresses, or any information that could identify a specific child. Crash data is used solely to diagnose issues and improve app stability.
Purchase information. In-app purchases are intended for parents and guardians and are processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not receive or store payment information such as credit card numbers. Purchase receipts are validated through RevenueCat, a subscription management service, and the respective platform's systems. RevenueCat receives only anonymous transaction identifiers — no personal information about children is shared.
3. How We Use Information
The limited technical information described above is used exclusively to:
- Deliver learning content (books, audio, translations) to the App
- Detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and technical problems
- Validate in-app purchases through the platform stores
- Maintain the security and stability of our content servers
We do not sell any data. We do not use any data for advertising. We do not track children's behavior across apps or websites, and no data is used to create marketing or behavioral profiles.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses a minimal number of third-party services:
- Content delivery servers — for downloading books, audio, and translations. No personal data is sent with content requests.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting, configured to scrub all PII. Used solely for app stability.
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management. RevenueCat receives only anonymous transaction identifiers from the platform stores; no personal information about children is shared.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store — in-app purchase processing. Purchases are intended for parents and guardians. Purchase transactions are managed entirely by the respective platform.
We do not use any analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics), advertising SDKs, or social media SDKs in Fluency Kids. These services may process data according to their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum technical information necessary for them to function.
5. Data Storage & Security
All user-generated data (learning progress, favorites, preferences, and in-app profiles) is stored locally on the device in a private database. This data is not transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Content delivery uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Crash reports are transmitted securely to Sentry with PII scrubbing enabled.
Because data is stored only on the device, it cannot be recovered if the App is uninstalled or if the device is lost, reset, or replaced.
6. COPPA Compliance
Fluency Kids is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Because the App does not collect personal information from children, verifiable parental consent for data collection is not required. However, we still recommend that parents and guardians supervise their children's use of the App and manage device-level settings such as purchase authentication and screen time.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, please contact us immediately at storyfluent@gmail.com and we will promptly investigate and delete any such information.
7. Parents' Rights
Because we do not collect personal information from children, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete. All learning data is stored locally on your device and can be managed by uninstalling the App or clearing its data through your device's settings.
Parents who have questions or concerns about how the App handles data are welcome to contact us at any time.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you may have additional rights under the GDPR. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Data Retention
We do not retain any personal data about children on our servers. Locally stored data persists on the device until the App is uninstalled or the data is cleared. Standard server access logs (which may include IP addresses from content downloads) are retained for a limited period for security purposes and then deleted.
9. Terms of Service
Use of Fluency Kids is also governed by our Terms of Service.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
